A lawyer was arrested Monday morning for entering the Cobb County, Ga., Courthouse with a loaded .40-caliber handgun in his briefcase, according to Tom Charron, administrator of the Cobb County Superior Court.

Rodd C. Walton of the Walton Law Group in Atlanta was taken into custody on charges of carrying a concealed weapon and carrying a weapon into a public gathering. Bond was set at $2,500, and Walton was released, according to the Cobb County Sheriff’s Department Web site. Walton told a reporter that “on the advice of counsel, I must decline any comment.”
