Remote work, in at least some form, is here to stay. Some employers have a fully remote workforce, while others call for mandatory time in the office, but whatever the scenario, every employer is grappling with how to address issues with remote work, such as virtual performance reviews or even termination. Here are some considerations that will help you have better (remote) control over your workforce.

Codify Your Policies

It is critical for employers to understand that Zoom, Teams, and other virtual conferencing services are simply another method of employee communication. Employers need written policies that apply to the entire workforce, and if necessary, a separate set of policies for those who work exclusively remotely. Codifying these policies and procedures around the expectations of remote workers can be helpful when an employer needs to have a difficult conversation from afar.
