This new year, I encourage my fellow attorneys to make a resolution to consistently provide pro bono services to those in need. This is an opportunity to serve our neighbors and significantly improve our community.

As you likely know, pro bono is short for pro bono publico, a Latin term that translates to “for the public good.” Pro bono work in the legal world supports justice and provides access to legal services to those who can’t afford it. The problem of affordability is huge. Approximately 80% of Americans are unable to afford a lawyer in their time of need.
