VerdictSearch released new intel that showed mediated settlements are growing in dollar amounts at a pace far greater than non-mediated settlements, as well as the verdicts juries returned in civil trials.

Anthony Torrente, a partner and mediator with Hinshaw & Culbertson in Miami, said that one of the tactics used by plaintiff lawyers that could be driving this trend is citing the verdicts that juries returned in their cases or in those of their competitors, as the baseline during the mediation.
