Beasley Allen Crow Methvin Portis & Miles filed a lawsuit Monday in Florida Southern District Court targeting Meta Platforms, Facebook and Instagram. The complaint, brought on behalf of Naomi Charles, contends that the social media giants intentionally design their platforms to be addictive to minors, who can easily become depressed, develop eating disorders, become victims of cyberbullying or suffer other deleterious effects. Counsel have not yet appeared for the defendants. The case is 1:22-cv-21721, Charles v. Meta Platforms, Inc. et al.
