The 17th Circuit Judicial Nominating Commission selected eight candidates from which Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis could choose to replace two departing judges in the Broward circuit and county court benches.

Joseph Scott Van de Bogart, a partner at Van de Bogart Law in Fort Lauderdale and the chair of the Broward JNC, said the candidates on the governor’s shortlist came from a list of 19 people who interviewed for the roles.
