AIG Specialty Insurance Company sued Accellion Monday in Florida Southern District Court in connection with the cybersecurity firm’s high profile data breach in late 2020 and early 2021. According to the suit, filed by Gordon Rees Scully Mansukhani, AIG insures the University of Miami, an Accellion customer which lost confidential and protected health information in the breach. The suit seeks to recoup more than $1 million in damages from Accellion based on alleged breach of contract, negligent representation and violations of Florida law. The case is 1:22-cv-20272, AIG Specialty Insurance Company v. Accellion, Inc.
