A jury found that two Miami-Dade Metro West Detention Center corrections officers were not liable for an altercation between two prisoners.

On May 15, 2013, plaintiff Pleadro Scott, a prisoner in his 20s, was transported to the Miami-Dade County Pre-Trial Detention Center, which was located at 1321 NW 13th St., in Miami. Scott needed to attend a hearing. He was placed in one of the facility’s holding cells in advance of the hearing. Scott claimed that he was beaten by another prisoner who had been placed in the holding cell. Scott claimed that he suffered injuries of his back, his jaw, his neck and a shoulder.
