The ongoing courtroom battles over 3M’s combat earplugs heated up on Friday after a Florida jury came back with a defense verdict.

The decision is the fifth jury verdict so far in the multidistrict litigation before U.S. District Judge M. Casey Rodgers, who has scheduled an aggressive timetable of bellwether trials, all held during the COVID-19 pandemic. More than 250,000 U.S. service members allege the dual-ended earplugs caused them to get hearing problems and ringing in the ears.
