A vital component of any well-rounded professional organization is giving back to its community through charitable work. Giving back looks different for every organization, depending on the types of services and skills they offer. For those of us who proudly serve in the legal profession, we see pro bono work as an opportunity to give back to the less fortunate and to serve our communities.

Sadly, there are countless residents in our communities who simply are unable to afford legal representation, which surely compounds the stress they feel as they grapple with legal issues. The Florida Bar has made it a mission to make the phrase “justice for all” more than a lofty ideal and give it literal meaning within Florida’s legal system. At The Florida Bar, we hold immense pride in our network of members, who have donated an exceptional 1.3 million hours of pro bono service to Floridians in need, as well as $6.3 million to legal aid organizations in the fiscal year that ended last June 30.
