A highly contested Miami divorce case is teed up to test a novel legal theory as a professional golfer’s ex-wife has laid claim to half the value of his sponsorship deals — including money obtained after their split.

Argentine golfer Emiliano Grillo filed for divorce from Maria Macarena Pelaez Alcala in May 2019 after about three years of marriage. The case has proved to be a difficult course, having already burned through one judge.
