Many of us have now been working home for months. The weddings, long summer weekends away, and other travel plans have been cancelled or postponed, and we’re left without a summer vacation to look forward to. Vacations are incredibly important, and ironically, they are essential to our businesses! These breaks are not only good for the soul, but they can also present new and guilt-free marketing opportunities for business owners and lawyers alike.

Breathe and Rest

Mindfulness seems to be the buzzword these days. Americans work harder than citizens from so many other countries; and without going into the office, it can be hard to actually turn off. Don’t forget that life is short and can be gone in a flash. Ask for a day, or even a week, off and by off, I mean OFF. Take a break from your depositions and trial prep, chances are the time away will help you return to these tasks with new insights and perspective. Delete your Outlook or work email from your phone and take some time to just breathe. Take a Pilates or yoga class on Zoom from your favorite instructor or pull out that big John Grisham novel from the shelf.  Take some time to truly take care of yourself, without the guilt that often comes with walking away from the computer. You are resting so that you can come back to your work FULL FORCE once you are recharged!
