Hilarie Bass, a former co-president of Greenberg Traurig, was named chairwoman of the University of Miami’s board of trustees on Friday.

A graduate of the UM School of Law, Bass had served as vice chairwoman of the board since 2014. She succeeds Royal Caribbean Cruises’ chairman and CEO Richard Fain. After she left Greenberg last year, Bass founded the Bass Institute for Diversity and Inclusion, a consulting firm that evaluates and recommends changes to the diversity programs of companies, law firms and other institutions.
