Gov. Nathan Deal took a step Friday toward addressing the lingering issue in litigation water wars with Florida—what to do about exponentially increasing irrigation on the big commercial farming operations in rural South Georgia.
Deal announced a $10.5 million investment in the Georgia Environmental Protection Division’s oversight of the state water metering program. And he named a water boss: Marjie Dickey. She will become agriculture water project manager at EPD on July 1.
