In a win for tort reform advocates, the U.S. House of Representatives passed combined legislation on Friday to limit class action lawsuits and change how plaintiffs are compensated in asbestos cases. But the Republican-backed legislation is now headed to the U.S. Senate, where a similar bill stalled in 2014.

The House voted 211-188 in favor of the Fairness in Class Action Litigation Act (FICALA). The legislation has been referred to as a “frankenbill” because it combines two pieces of legislation.
