The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission this week suspended R. Scott Peden, general counsel of a Texas life settlements company, from practicing before the agency on charges he aided and abetted his company in making misrepresentations and faulty disclosures.

But he can apply for reinstatement after 42 months provided he avoids misconduct and fulfills a list of requirements.
