While the patent world has been getting the lion’s share of IP attention in recent years, trademark attorneys also have been busy, filing more than 24,000 trademark cases since 2009. And the cases have resulted in awards of more than $9 billion in cumulative damages, according to a new Lex Machina study.

In its first comprehensive “Trademark Litigation Report,” the legal analytics firm examined key metrics from trademark cases pending from 2009 through the first quarter of 2015, including filings, findings, remedies and damages.
