The three panelists—Sara Jane Shanahan, partner at Sherin & Lodgen LLP; Orrie Dinstein, chief privacy leader and senior IP counsel at GE Capital; and Geanne Rosenberg, a professor at Baruch College of the City University of New York, and CUNY Journalism—discussed ways to manage the internal and external risks companies face in the age of Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, et al.

One example of how easy it is for employees and customers to publicize problems online was presented by Shanahan, who discussed the fast-food purveyor Wendy’s. Employees at Wendy’s became whistleblowers by making a video of conditions in the kitchen and posting it to YouTube.
