For years whistleblower Michael DeKort has battled his old company, Lockheed Martin Corporation, over its handling of a boat conversion contract it undertook for the U.S. Coast Guard. On Dec. 2, following four years of litigation, he settled his complaint for an unspecified sum. But instead of satisfaction, he voiced deep frustration.

The reason: His lawsuit against the other defendants, Northrop Grumman Corporation, which collaborated with Lockheed on the project, and Integrated Coast Guard Systems (ICGS), the joint venture between the contractors, was dismissed by the judge on Oct. 27, the same day DeKort agreed in principal to settle with his old firm.
