Most U.K. companies feel that their outside counsel deliver on quality and service, according to a recent survey. Yet only a minority of firms have switched to alternative billing practices, even though that’s what their clients clearly prefer.

Legal Week Intelligence ‘s sixth annual Client Satisfaction Report included rankings of 43 U.K. and U.S. law firms. The results were based on responses from senior in-house lawyers and finance directors at 683 companies operating in the United Kingdom, including more than half of the Financial Times Stock Exchange 100. Clients graded firms on six primary criteria: quality of legal advice; quality of commercial advice; cost/billing practices; service delivery/responsiveness; use of IT; and personal/partner relationships.
