In-house lawyers generally like their jobs but are nonetheless anxious, exhausted and stressed, according to Law.com and ALM Intelligence’s 2024 Mental Health Survey. It found that  crushing workloads, understaffed teams and dysfunctional company culture are largely to blame.

Seventy-nine in-house counsel responded to the survey, up from last year’s two dozen. While it’s too small a sample to be statistically significant, the results are consistent with observations from in-house experts who say the job has grown increasingly demanding.
