I have addressed the topic of age discrimination a few times in this space, usually in the context of displaced (via M&A activity, RIF, or incentivized early retirement) in-house counsel who struggle over age 60 to find traditional direct hire positions.  Former general counsels find it particularly difficult to land contributor level roles, such as Senior Counsel, where they are viewed as overqualified.  I do understand when a company rejects a candidate over this concern.

This topic often feels personal to me, as I get many calls from older attorneys who have been good to me, either as former client contacts or as candidates placed into positions by my search firm.  I want to help, but often that is limited to advice and counsel.  And I know that falls short of what the person really wants, which is to be presented for an opening.
