The tech industry is famous for its burn-the-candle-at-both-ends work schedules, a culture that leads to productivity-sapping burnout. Now that many tech companies are requiring workers to spend several days a week in the office, will reduced worker flexibility make those problems worse?

A study released in February suggested that could be the case. The Slack-backed consortium Future Forum surveyed 10,000 desk workers across many industries in the United States and Europe and found that 53% of those dissatisfied with their level of work flexibility say they are burned out compared with 37% of employees satisfied with their flexibility.
