Mercer University has appointed associate general counsel Matthew Hall to serve as interim general counsel while it seeks a replacement for William G. Solomon IV, who retired Tuesday after serving as GC for 25 years.

Solomon, who joined Mercer as legal chief in 1996, will continue with the university on an of counsel basis. He previously was general counsel for the University of Wyoming and associate general counsel for the University of Georgia.
