Anyone paying attention to diversity numbers in the legal profession knows that the picture is far from ideal. According to statistics from the U.S. Census Bureau, for instance, 88 percent of lawyers were white as of 2010. And numbers from the American Bar Association show that as of 2016, 64 percent of lawyers were men.

Most if not all in the profession know this is an issue and many are looking to change this landscape. There are discussions and initiatives around making the pipeline more diverse. Firms focus on diversity recruiting efforts as a way to change the numbers.
