Jim Comitale is moving up the ranks of Rite Aid, post-Walgreens merger announcement. He’s been appointed to senior vice president, general counsel and secretary, according to a recent statement. He will succeed Marc Strassler, who will continue to serve as the company’s corporate counsel.

Comitale currently holds the post of assistant general counsel. He joined the company in 1997, according to his LinkedIn account. The Central Penn Business Journal says that in addition to advising Rite Aid senior management on legal matters, Comitale will oversee the outside counsel retained by the company. Before joining the company, he was in private practice at firms in Philadelphia and Harrisburg. He holds a bachelor’s degree from LaSalle University and a law degree from Penn State’s Dickinson Law School.
