Global bitcoin exchange operator itBit has a new general counsel in its treasure chest. Daniel Alter joins the financial services company as general counsel and chief compliance officer, after stepping down as GC of the New York State Department of Financial Services, where he served as principal counsel and strategic adviser to the superintendent.

Chad Cascarilla, co-founder and chief executive officer of itBit, commented on Alter’s “deep expertise in financial services and virtual currency regulation,” in prepared remarks.
