In this session, we will look at how companies have been addressing the impact of various states’ data privacy laws, including CCPA and CPRA. Additionally, we will focus on how companies should deal with various consumer protection guidelines instituted by regulators and whether or not there we will see the introduction of a federal privacy law.

This session will give you insight into keeping pace with emerging state data privacy regulations. Following passage of CCPA and CPRA in California, states are prioritizing enacting data privacy laws to more aggressively regulate the use of consumers’ personal information. These laws will have profound implications on how companies, including law firms, do business and communicate with their customers moving forward.

In this session, our data scientists and privacy experts will share emerging solutions for extracting and protecting private information throughout the discovery process.

Join us as a panel of experienced attorneys and data privacy/data protection experts provide a roadmap for addressing these issues. We’ll examine recent developments, including California voters’ approval in November of the California Privacy Rights Act, recent case law, the latest actions by the Federal Trade Commission, and domestic and international obligations as we approach the third anniversary of the effective date of Europe’s General Data Protection Regulation.

All it takes is one employee clicking on the wrong link in an email, and the hundreds of thousands of dollars you spend on your security infrastructure are useless. So to sit back and rely on your IT department with the expectation that nothing will ever go wrong is a risky proposition. Issues related to data privacy and cybersecurity are not limited to large organizations. In fact, depending on what reports you read, anywhere from 40% to 60% of cyber-attacks specifically target small to medium-sized businesses, and upwards of 70% of small businesses have experienced some form of cyberattack in the last year. The smaller the business, the fewer the resources it will typically have to spend on cybersecurity.
