The Britney Spears conservatorship case has brought a lot of attention to the Conservatorships and Guardianship laws throughout the country. In this program, Dr. Brian Russell uses his expertise to provde some useful legal context to the case, provide lawyers with a better understanding of where the pitfalls are and how they can do right by their clients.

Given the prevalence of data breaches in recent months, it is not too far-fetched to assume that any business is/will be a target. When the breach occurs, we will look at what businesses should do to respond in the most efficient manner possible and mitigate the consequences.

Forty-four states have enacted pay-equity laws since the Pay Equity Act of 1963, but despite the well-intentioned progress, we still have a long way to go to achieve laws that are effective for employees and feasible for companies to comply. Students and young lawyers often use an "ad hoc" approach treating "every problem as a different problem." Since I have needed to teach students who have never done transactional law how to begin working on complex projects very quickly, I have tried to create a teachable, universal approach to beginning transactional assignments. This approach I will teach holds true whether the solution requires a client call, an internal/external memo, drafting a contract, or prosecuting intellectual property (copyright, trademark, or patent registrations).
