Description

A few years past the height of the global pandemic, the world continues to grapple with global supply chain issues. We will discuss how the current geopolitical landscape contributes to this along with the legal issues and challenges that arise when the global supply chain is disrupted and how you can effectively manage risk. Speakers will also provide a comprehensive overview of sanctions in a volatile global landscape.

She has extensive experience navigating a variety of complex regulatory landscapes, having worked in the telecom, consumer products, and mining and industrial sectors over the course of her career. Sheila is a highly accomplished trade compliance professional with over 15 years of experience, known for her subject matter expertise across a wide range of industries. She currently serves as the Director of Global Trade Compliance & Sanctions at The Coca-Cola Company, where she spearheads the development and implementation of comprehensive global trade compliance programs, oversees regular risk assessments and audits, provides targeted training to employees across the organization. She works closely with a cross-functional team that includes Legal, Supply Chain, Tax, Finance, and third-party partners to enable and optimize the Company’s strategic objectives while minimizing any associated risks.

An expert in export/import control regulations, Sheila has cultivated a deep understanding of U.S. and international sanctions laws and uses this knowledge to ensure that The Coca-Cola Company and its subsidiaries fully comply with all applicable rules. Her dedication to promoting compliant business practices and facilitating seamless cross-border transactions have earned her a reputation as a trusted leader in the field.

Before joining The Coca-Cola Company, Sheila provided advisory services to various leading multinational corporations as a member of Deloitte’s Global Trade Advisory group, where she honed her skills in trade compliance management and sharing valuable industry insights.

Sheila earned her J.D. from Brooklyn Law School and her Bachelor of Arts from Boston University in International Relations, where she graduated cum laude and on the Dean’s List. She is a licensed attorney in New York, licensed US Customs Broker and a certified US export compliance officer. She is also a certified Six Sigma Yellow Belt.

Stephanie Wilkins is the Editor-in-Chief of Legaltech News at ALM. She has spent the better part of the past decade following the evolution of legal tech and learning how it can help in-house counsel, law firms, and others in the legal industry. As a former practicing litigator, she is particularly interested in how legal tech can and should be used in real-life practice and the valuable differences it can make. Julie L. Cantor has worked in the legal field since 2014. Julie L. began their career at McDermott Will & Emery as a Private Client Associate, writing memoranda interpreting and summarizing various facets of trust, tax, real estate, partnership, charitable donation, international charity organization, art, fiduciary accounting, and cemetery law, as well as drafting a wide range of documents. In 2015, they joined Compass as Senior Counsel, Employment, Corporate Counsel, and Associate Counsel. Julie L. then moved to Studs in 2022, where they currently serve as Associate General Counsel. Prior to their legal career, Julie was a 7th and 8th Grade Math Teacher and Teach For America Corps Member at Paul Public Charter School. Julie L. taught students who were up to eight grades behind grade level and used excel data to analyze and communicate student achievement with various stakeholders.

Julie L. Cantor obtained a Doctor of Law (JD) from Columbia Law School between 2012 and 2014. Prior to that, they obtained a Master of Arts in Teaching from American University between 2009 and 2011, with a focus on Secondary Mathematics. Finally, they obtained a B.S. in Industrial and Labor Relations from Cornell University between 2005 and 2009.
