Regulations are changing every few months, and even if you’re not a privacy expert, GCs need to stay current with the changes to be compliant. Robert Stern

Rob is the Associate General Counsel at Copado, Inc., a DevOps and Robotic Testing software company. Rob advises internal clients on a variety of legal matters, negotiates commercial contracts, and manages Copado’s compliance and data privacy and security initiatives.

Rob previously spent several years in-house at a multinational software company focusing on high-value cloud software transactions. Rob then transitioned to Clark Hill, PLC to help grow its burgeoning data privacy practice. At Clark Hill, Rob routinely navigated clients through data privacy and security incidents, compliance initiatives, and technology transactions.

Rob earned his J.D. from Chicago-Kent College of Law, Illinois Institute of Technology, and his undergraduate degree from Indiana University. Rob is licensed to practice law in Illinois and is a Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/US).

Hamid Soueidan

General Counsel
Webasto Roof Systems, Inc.

Hamid M. Soueidan II is General Counsel, Americas, for Webasto Group (a tier 1 automotive supplier). He also works with in-house counsel on improving their influence within their organizations. As an experienced corporate lawyer, Hamid brings a unique view to in-house legal departments with his commercial focused approached. He is often viewed as a change agent bringing out of the box, practical, and pragmatic legal solutions that align with business goals.

When Hamid decided to go in-house he was confronted with a number of challenges: the business did not view legal as an essential function of executive management team; in most cases various departments would avoid going to legal until it was to late; and the organization was warry of hiring additional in-house lawyers. Hamid quickly established a business case for including legal in the executive management team; increased hiring within legal; and a proactive and preventive legal culture within the origination.

Hamid reduced legal by spend by approximately 70%; increased the value of service received; and provided for a method of tracking the legal departments impact to the bottom line.

Hamid was born and raised in the great state of Michigan. He is currently enrolled in Harvard Business School pursing his Executive Education. Hamid attended Wayne State University in Detroit, MI and The Thomas M. Cooley Law School in Lansing, MI.

Ms. Hunt most recently served as the Vice President, Compliance Program Operations and Chief Privacy Officer for LifePoint Health, a national network with 60,000 employees in over 80 hospitals, post-acute services, and outpatient centers operating in 28 states. Before joining LifePoint, she served as the Senior Vice President, Audit, Ethics & Compliance Officer for AARP, a 38-million-member association. During her tenure, AARP was twice honored as a World's Most Ethical Company.

Ms. Hunt has won numerous awards, including the Compliance Officer of the Year (Women in Compliance Awards), Mentor of the Year (Compliance Week), and Lifetime Achievement Award, (Top Thought Leaders in Trust 2019). She is an adjunct professor with the MSL in Compliance Studies Program of Fordham University School of Law, teaching the Introduction to Compliance Course.

Ellen serves on the Advisory Boards for the Notre Dame Deloitte Center for Ethical Leadership, Loyola University Chicago-School of Law- Compliance Studies, Compliance Week, and the Quorum Initiative.
