Amid a volatile period for U.S.-Cuba relations, Akin Gump has helped to cement the first-ever biotech joint venture involving the two countries.

Buffalo-based Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center will link up with Cuba’s Center for Molecular Immunology to explore the potential of four cancer immunotherapy treatments developed on the island. The two partners announced the creation of the Innovative Immunotherapy Alliance S.A. on Wednesday.
