RICHARD BROSNICK has joined Akerman as a partner in New York. Previously with Butzel Long, Brosnick practices in the areas of financial services and securities litigation, antitrust litigation and counseling, and commercial contract litigation and arbitration.

LOUISE PARENT, currently the general counsel of American Express, is slated to join Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton as of counsel in April following her retirement from the credit card company. Parent will join Cleary’s New York office and plans to advise corporate clients on mergers and acquisitions, litigation, and enforcement and regulatory matters.

Honigman Miller Schwartz and Cohn has hired LEIGH TAGGART as a partner in Bloomfield HIlls, Mich. Taggart, previously at intellectual property firm Rader, Fishman & Grauer, litigates and mediates trademark, copyright, antitrust and trade secret matters.

Jones Day has added JUSTIN HERDMAN as of counsel in its Cleveland office. Most recently an assistant U.S. attorney for the Northern District of Ohio, Herdman joins the firm’s business and tort litigation group with a practice concentrated on commercial, product liability and consumer fraud litigation, as well as corporate criminal litigation and investigations.

DOV KLEINER has left Vinson & Elkins for New York firm Kleinberg, Kaplan, Wolff & Cohen. Kleiner joins as a partner in Kleinberg Kaplan’s bankruptcy and workout practice, focusing on private investment funds and portfolio company restructuring.

Morrison & Foerster has expanded its Washington, D.C., office with corporate finance partner SCOTT LESMES, who comes to the firm from O’Melveny & Myers. Lesmes advises public companies on corporate and securities matters. Earlier in his career, he served as chief legal officer for Allied Capital Corp. and as deputy general counsel for Fannie Mae.

RAM BURSHTINE has jumped from King & Spalding to Sidley Austin in New York. A partner in the firm’s global finance practice, he represents financial institutions, private equity sponsors, and corporate borrowers in domestic and cross-border financing transactions.

SJ Berwin’s ETIENNE BOURSICAN has gone to Orrick Rambaud Martel, the Paris arm of Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe. A partner, he focuses on mergers and acquisitions and other capital markets transactions.
