Global insurer ACE Limited announced Thursday that it would purchase a Mexican subsidiary of Ally Financial for roughly $865 million in cash.

ACE’s acquisition of Ally unit ABA Seguros comes a month after the Zurich-based insurance giant spent $275 million in cash to buy Fianzas Monterrey from New York Life Insurance as it seeks to expand its operations in Mexico.
