Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton is the latest international law firm to expand its Middle East practice by adding a new office in Abu Dhabi.

Until now, the lawyers in Cleary’s Middle East practice have handled the international transactions and arbitrations they work on in the region out of the firm’s offices in London, Paris, New York, and Milan. Those matters have included representing the Iraqi government in claims related to international contracts executed under Saddam Hussein, and advising the country’s oil ministry on a joint venture launched last year with Royal Dutch Shell and Mitsubishi Corporation to process natural gas.
