It’s been a busy few months here at The Am Law Daily. But while one large law firm has dominated most of the headlines, others have gotten into their share of legal tangles as well.

We’ve already covered a few notable lawsuits involving law firms, including Kelley Drye & Warren settling a long-running dispute over its now-scrapped mandatory retirement policy, Edwards Wildman Palmer moving a compensation fight with a pair of former partners into arbitration, and Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobsen fending off a former secretary’s bias suit.

And while several other firms have found themselves on the defensive in recent months, one—Davis Polk & Wardwell—has gone on the offensive.

A new lease signing is at the root of the spat in question. Davis Polk sued its landlord, Lexington Operating Partners, in New York state court on April 18, seeking to force the company to abide by arbitration rules set out in its lease as the two decide on a base rent price on which both parties can agree.
