Baker & McKenzie is among the firms representing Apple, Inc. in a dispute originating in China that threatens to disrupt sales of the company’s popular iPad product worldwide.

Chinese electronics company Proview Technology (Shenzhen) Co. Ltd. has been embroiled in litigation with Apple since 2010 over the ownership of the iPad product name, having registered a similar trademark in 2001 for its own display monitor products. The company is now petitioning Chinese customs authorities to block all imports and exports of Apple’s product, which it says infringes that trademark.
