Davis Polk & Wardwell and Simpson Thacher & Bartlett have advised on a $1.5 billion bond issue by Japan’s Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corp.

The senior bonds, which are listed on the Singapore Exchange, comprise three tranches and are available internationally under Rule 144A/Regulation S. Sumitomo Mitsui will use the proceeds for general corporate purposes, according to a prospectus dated January 5.
