The combined firm will count roughly 60 lawyers and be named Weintraub Genshlea Chediak Tobin & Tobin. For Weintraub, the move gives the Sacramento firm a greater foothold in the larger market of the San Francisco Bay Area; the firm first entered the area in fall 2010 with a small office focused on employment and corporate matters, according to The Recorder.

Tobin & Tobin, founded in 1852, focuses on business matters for financial institutions, commercial real estate clients, businesses, and nonprofits. The merger will help them take on larger litigation matters, Tobin managing partner C. Darrell Sooy told The Recorder, saying, “We’re competing against international law firms with thousands of attorneys. We’ve got to be a bit bigger.”
