Anglo-Australian miner BHP Billiton has launched a $12.1 billion bid for Texan oil and gas company Petrohawk Energy, appointing Sullivan & Cromwell and Morgan, Lewis & Bockius as co-counsel on the deal. Both firms have advised BHP on previous deals. Sullivan & Cromwell fielded a team that included New York corporate partners James Morphy and Krishna Veeraraghavan. Allens Arthur Robinson, Holding Redlich and Blake Dawson have advised on a cross-border joint venture between Singaporean and Japanese property developers to build a $2 billion property in Sydney. Singapore’s Frasers Property will work with Osaka-based property company Sekisui House Ltd. to build the Central Park complex, an “urban village” comprising housing, retail space and offices.
