Video game giant Electronic Arts announced Tuesday that it will pay at least $750 million to snap up PopCap Games in what appears to be a bid to challenge Farmville maker Zynga for a larger share of the so-called casual gaming market.

Redwood City, Calif.–based Electronic Arts–which is primarily a maker of console-based games–will pay $650 million in cash and $100 million in stock now to acquire Seattle-based PopCap, whose offerings include Bejeweled, Peggle, Plants vs. Zombies, and Zuma’s Revenge.
