UPDATE, 12/11/10 – Mark Madoff, the eldest of Bernard Madoff’s two sons, was found dead early Saturday morning, the result of a suicide, according to Newsday. The suicide was confirmed by his lawyer, Martin Flumenbaum of Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison. The Wall Street Journal , New York Daily News, and CNN have more on the death of Mark Madoff, which came on the second anniversary of his father’s arrest. He was 46.

On Saturday at midnight, Irving Picard, liquidating trustee for Bernard L. Madoff Investment Securities, can finally rest after a whirlwind two weeks of frantic civil suits filed to recover money for investors before the two-year statute of limitations runs out.
