John Hollway always wanted to be a writer. But finding the time to write a book was tough. Working as a litigation associate at Morgan, Lewis & Bockius didn’t leave him with a lot of spare time. Neither does his current post as vice president of Achaogen, Inc., a biotech company. And, of course, raising four kids has taken its fair share of time too.

But Hollway, 39, did have something that many other aspiring writers lack: a story. As an associate at Morgan, Lewis, Hollway followed the efforts of partners Michael Banks and J. Gordon Cooney, Jr., to get an innocent man off death row. Hollway worked on the book, Killing Time (released this month by Skyhorse Publishing), from about 11:30 at night to 1 in the morning for a year and a half.
