In perhaps the largest corporate criminal tax settlement since GlaxoSmithKline Plc agreed to pay the Internal Revenue Service $3.4 billion in 2006, UBS AG shelled out $780 million to U.S. agencies under a deferred prosecution agreement. Prosecutors alleged that it helped American clients evade U.S. taxes.
