Lateral partners are most often leaving law firms over disagreements about management and strategy, even more so than arguing over compensation and remote work options, new survey results show.

A lack of confidence in a firm’s management or strategy was the top reason lateral partners this year said they left their firms, the 2023 Lateral Partner Satisfaction Survey from Major, Lindsey & Africa found. At the same time, the top reason partners said they chose their new firm was its perceived ability to support and elevate their practice.
