Seeing opportunities in financial restructuring and private equity in Boston, Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld has officially opened an office in the city, bringing on Joshy Peary, a Kirkland & Ellis special situations and private credit partner.

Another former Kirkland partner, Ranesh Ramanathan, who joined Akin Gump last October to co-lead its private credit practice, will be the firm’s partner in charge in Boston. These laterals are in addition to the firm’s hiring of tax partners last year in Boston, before the firm’s official office launch.
