Washington-headquartered Arnold & Porter Kaye Scholer has lured a former lead administrative patent judge at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office to join its Denver office as a partner in its intellectual property practice.

Jessica Kaiser was at the patent office for seven years as a judge. During that time she managed and decided cases before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board, including both America Invents Act trials and ex parte appeals involving the original prosecution of patents. Kaiser also has significant experience implementing agency policy and PTAB reforms, including agency rulemaking, a pilot program for motions to amend patent claims during AIA trials, PTAB statistics, and remote hearing operations.
