This summer, as law firms across the United States switched to remote work and virtual summer associate programs, McGuireWoods wasn’t quite as keen on entirely eschewing the in-person model.

The Am Law 100 firm, which has been slowly reopening offices at partial capacity since April, also saw an opportunity to get summer associates back in the building. So it put together a hybrid in-person and virtual program. That included managing partner Tracy Walker crisscrossing the country to visit all 12 offices that hosted summer clerks.
