Several Global 100 firms picked up work this week on a pair of acquisitions by companies backed by billionaire Martin Franklin.

West Palm Beach, Florida-based chemical maker Platform Specialty Products Corp.—of which Franklin is founder and CEO—announced Monday its purchase of U.K. rival Alent plc for $2.3 billion, including debt. Along with Franklin, Platform is also backed by billionaire Nicolas Berggruen, a U.S. and German citizen.
