After months of tie-up talks, Syracuse, New York-based Hiscock & Barclay and Buffalo, New York-based Damon Morey have agreed to combine operations into a 275-lawyer entity called Barclay Damon.

The union, which has been the subject of will-they, won’t-they chatter since early March, officially went live on June 1. While the deal will create the largest firm in upstate New York, another question is whether or not the newly named Barclay Damon will rise to the ranks of The Am Law 200.
